The Mountain Market in Rotary Park in Fernie, British Columbia, is an outdoor market, much like that of a farmer's market. This market has really taken off as a success and therefore is sponsored every year. There are many vendors selling their products, fruits, vegetables and other wares to those that visit the market. Rotary Park is situated in Lizard Range, a part of the Canadian Rocky Mountains. Those that come to visit the mountains should make a point to stop by and see what's available at the market, too.
The market vendors come from all areas of Elk Valley and even farther. They offer a wide selection of products and services to those that visit the market. These include such things as crafts of all types, bakers with both local favorites and traditional foods, farmers with the best seasonal fruits and vegetables as well as artisans of all types. Woodworkers can be seen doing their crafts as can many of the painters here. Musicians can be heard playing and singing throughout the location.
The Mountain Market is open most Sunday's from Canada Day through Labor Day. Usually, it is open from about 10 in the morning to about 2. The market is located in Rotary Park which is a family style, open park that offers lots of room for sports or picnicking. It is located off of Highway 3. There are several play structures located here as well as picnic tables to use. Those wishing to be part of the Mountain Market can become involved by contacting the Market Manager.
