Mount Proctor near Fernie, British Columbia, in Canada is the location of many hiking trails that are loved by the locals. This picturesque location provides a range of views all of which are beautiful and inviting. Visitors to the mountain can hike over it and around the surrounding mountains. These are named Three Sisters Mountain, Mount Fernie and Mount Hosmer.
There are many legends and tales about Mount Proctor. Legend says that Mount Proctor is actually what happened to a local Indian chef that could not choose between three women as to which would become his bride. Because he did not choose, the gods made him into a mountain, Mount Proctor. The Three Sister Mountain also has its own legend. The mountain is said to be the remains of what happened to the three brides that were not selected. Supposedly they asked the gods to make them mountains as well.
Mount Proctor is part of the Lizard Range of mountains in this area. It is a limestone mountain which features an amazing hiking trail that many from around the world travel to hike on. Mount Fernie is 2210m. This steep mountain also provides for a hiking trail, though more difficult. It is located directly northwest of the town of Fernie. It was named after William Fernie would help to develop the coal industry in the city.
Visitors to the city of Fernie will be able to enjoy any and all of these hiking trails. Because of the location, the trails are open seasonally and weather permitting.
