Throughout your ride down this trail, you'll see spectacular views of the valley plus the original town site of Coal Creek, where you'll be able to see historic ruins of an old mining town. Fernie mined much of its coal from Coal Creek before the mine was shut down. Coal Creek Heritage Trail frequently has visitors interested in not only biking but also learning about the area history. People also frequent the trail to attend the annual Coal Creek Picnic.
