Fernie Alpine Resort are a celebration of the snow in honor of town legend, The Griz. This weekend long event always sees great amounts of snowfall, and according to Fernie legend, The Griz is responsible for this blessing. According to the legend, The Griz is a mysterious, massive man who was raised by bears and lived in a cave; every winter, he shoots his musket into the clouds, which makes the snow fall. Griz Days celebrate this Fernie legend and the powder snow that gives Fernie its fantastic ski opportunities. During Griz Days, locals and visitors alike will be able to share in festivities such as a parade, a family carnival, sporting events and competitions, and many parties.
