Located in the parking lot of the Celestial Windz Harmonic Bizaar, the World's Largest Tuned Musical Wind Chime is a noteworthy tribute to Ignatz Farbiarz, who was one of the brave survivors of the Holocaust.
This architectural masterpiece was erected by his son Ranaga Farbiarz in 2004, and is comprised of six pipes which are tuned in accordance with the Oriental pentatonic scale. Of these, the longest and the shortest tube are exactly an octave apart in their resonance, with the deepest tuned tube about 20 feet tall, while the shortest is about 14 feet tall and is described by many to have a sound, similar to that of the Cathedral. The tubes are suspended from a 225-pound wooden pyramid and have been assembled and mounted onsite using a bucket truck.
In fact, this memorial has also been dubbed the Wind Chime of Mass Destruction by its creator, given the fact that the aluminum it is constructed from is of the same size and grade as that used by weapon instructors in Iraq.
Today, these chimes have been officially accorded the title of the World's Largest Tuned Wind Chimes by the Guinness World Records and welcome thousands of visitors who marvel at the sheer size and the surprisingly melodious timbre of these mammoth tubes.
The World's Largest Wind Chimes are accessible to the public at no cost and can be viewed during the regular gallery hours of the Celestial Windz Harmonic Bizaar. For further information, you can call (479) 253-5288.
