The Commonwealth Stadium which is located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; is one stadium that is well known. However, it is usually only used for the Edmonton Eskimos; who are part of the Canadian Football League. The stadium was built in 1978 in order for it to host the commonwealth games; which are similar to the US Olympics. The stadium has just over 60,000 seats for the regular football season; however, it can be expanded.
The largest amount of people that it has had in it was 62,531 people! Not only is the Commonwealth Stadium the largest stadium for permanent capacity, but it is also one of the few that has a natural grass surface for playing on. Because of the grass ground, the Commonwealth stadium hosts a lot of soccer tournaments; such as the 2006 Women's Rugby World Cup. One of the best features that the many people love about the Commonwealth Stadium, is that it is currently known for having the most advanced as well as largest video jumbotron in the world!
The size of the screen is 40 feet by 24 feet; along with having a 16:9 picture format! Not only has the Commonwealth Stadium been used for sports, but it also had many different music concerts there, as well. In fact, some of the best concerts held there were Pink Floyd, David Bowie, U2, The Police, Rolling Stones, and Tim McGraw.
