Callingwood Arena: Fun on Ice
Ice sports are popular in Canada and so there are plenty of recreational facilities that offer space for performing these sports. Callingwood Arena is a recreational center that families in the Callingwood area of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada can use for ice skating and hockey.
The Callingwood Arena is equipped to adequately handle ice sports. There are actually two arenas in the facility. Each arena has a sheet of ice that is 200 feet long and 85 feet wide. The majority of the people that visit the arena do so to enjoy individual skating, but hockey events are also common at the recreational center. The seating area of each of the arenas can hold up to 220 people. The recreational center also has a machine for sharpening skates. The arenas are equipped to provide ice skating during the summer months.
For use during hockey games, each of the arenas features a protective net to prevent hockey pucks from flying into the audience. There are ample dressing rooms, each with six showers. Vending machines stocked with hot and cold beverages are always available. Concession stands are available during event times only.
There are four community rooms in each of the two arenas of the Callingwood Arena. These rooms are available for lease by the public for just about any type of social event, including a wedding reception or private party.
The Callingwood Arena is a community recreational center, so it does not charge for individual skating. Public skating is available every Wednesday from 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. and Saturday 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
