Stagecrafters, a community theatre group based out of the Baldwin Theatre in Detroit, Michigan is perhaps one of the most accomplished theaters of this type throughout the Detroit area.& The theater, the Baldwin, has been restored to its once great neighborhood theater settings in vintage style and elegance. There are two theaters, a main stage area and a second stage. Both are used by the Stagecrafters Group to create various types of musicals and plays of all sorts.
The Stragecrafters Group puts on a variety of different types of musicals and plays including virtually all genres such as the most modern and the most traditional types. Their schedule of events often includes a range of choices and books well in advance. Some popular shows book up to six months in advance.
For those of a younger crowd, the Stagecrafters Group also sponsors a Youth Group. This group also puts on a variety of plays and musicals including musicals like Robin Hood and It's A Wonderful Life (this changes often.) Those interested in exploring their on stage talent can audition to be part of the Youth Group which features children and teens of a variety of ages and backgrounds.
In addition, the Stagecrafters Group also offers many special events all year round including their annual Breakfast with Santa and special programs for the hearing impaired. Another annual event to consider visiting for is their silent movies, which feature nothing more than organ accompaniment.
With high quality performances on this local stage, visitors experience first hand an affordable way to enjoy theater without paying high costs of grand theaters in the Detroit area.
