Oakland County Parks offer picnic places and much more throughout the Greater Detroit, Michigan area that can be enjoyed by the public freely. Throughout the area there are many park locations including those that offer special events, playgrounds and the ideal picnic setting. Nearly all parks that are owned and run by the Oakland County public services are able to accommodate public needs fully.
For those that would like to enjoy picnicking, consider Addison Oaks Park, Independence Oaks Park and Orion Parks, just to name a few. Camping activities happen at Groveland Oaks Park including fun Halloween events. Addison Oaks Park is another friendly environment for those camping, or those wanting a quiet stroll through the wooded area. Camp Wilderness which is located at Independence Oaks Count Park is an outstanding choice. There are two group areas that can host up to 160 campers there. There are also two pavilions located here, picnic tables, fire rings, as well as amenities such as electricity, showers and water.
Oakland County Parks offer a variety of activities throughout them including golf locations, waterpark areas during the summer months and nature centers that function year round. Some parks off summer concerts for those that want a quiet evening under the stars.
Those wishing to book a pavilion or to sign up for special programs and events hosted by the Oakland County Parks system should do so ahead of time by contacting the Parks Division. Mobile recreation and adaptive recreation is available. Group and teacher outings are available as well. The parks system operates on a first come, first serve basis.
