Henry Ford Museum & Greenfield Village in Detroit, MI
The Henry Ford Museum is easily one of the most popular attractions in America and regularly houses a huge number of interesting exhibits. The permanent exhibits include a revolutionary futuristic house, the presidential limousines, a world class collection of vintage automobiles and the timepieces of the past. In fact the variety is so large that it is impossible to mention everything. The museum is open daily from 9.30 until 5pm and is suitable for adults and children of all ages.
Close to the Henry Ford Museum is Greenfield Village, another of Henry Ford's creations. It is composed of seven districts which include a number of famous houses and other buildings from Henry Ford's past and the general era. You can walk around the Village and see the farmhouse that Ford grew up in, the house in which Thomas Edison had his life changing ideas, the Main street which is the hub of the village and many other interesting buildings. If you don't fancy walking you can take a ride in a number of vintage cars or enjoy a ride in a horse drawn carriage and if you want to see the entire village you can even ride the railroad.
Both the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village have a number of classic eateries including old world taverns and authentic southern fried chicken houses so you can really make the most of the day plus both venues have gift shops where you can buy a huge range of mementoes and collectibles inspired by Henry Ford and his life.
