Pop and Jazz also found a home in Detroit; however, it was R&B/Soul that truly set the Detroit music scene on the map. In the 1960s and 1970s, Tamla Records produced some of the most beloved recording artists of the time period. Eventually, Hip Hop emerged, making stars of literally dozens of artists.

As a result of the strong connection to the Detroit music scene, numerous artists hailing from Detroit have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
