The Destin History and Fishing Museum in Destin, Florida provides a variety of exhibits on the history of the location as well as the fishing industry that has been so beneficial to the area.& Those that visit will be able to enjoy a range of activities from the feeling of swimming in the Gulf with all of the fish that have been caught in Destin that have been considered award winning. The display is about 100 feet long on a wall that looks like the Gulf of Mexico's floor.
Other aspects of the area include a large collection of antique fishing equipment including antique rods and reels. One of these is a split bamboo rod made with a Penn Reel that is original to the rod and the entire thing belonged to Ernest Hemmingway. Plus explore what life was like prior to electricity in the area. Just across from the museum is the original post office of Destin which can be browsed through. Visit the Primrose, built in 1925, which is the oldest seine fishing boat around the world.
Throughout the location you will explore a variety of interesting photos, many of which are from the earliest settlers to the location, their boats, the scenes from around the beaches and local businesses as they developed.
