Wild Horse Gulch near Denver, CO gives visitors a first hand look and feel of Cheyenne and what it must have been like in the late 1800s. Wild Horse Gulch is a simulation of old time Cheyenne that is two blocks long. Vic Bonogofsky, with the help of volunteers, built Wild Horse Gulch to help publicize and show many of the early activities that went on in Wyoming back in the day. These attractions, in addition to the Cheyenne Frontier Days rodeo, both of which are part of Frontier Park attract hundreds of tourists and visitors.
You can walk through Wild Horse Gulch and learn all about the old west days in Cheyenne as you watch the many displays and demonstrations. You'll see blacksmiths show you how they put shoes on horses with the use of their hot irons as well as many surveyors from the area. You'll get a sample of the food from the chuck wagon cooks-this is something that will make you want to keep returning. You can also buy old horseshoes and horseshoe artifacts and memorabilia.
Some of the other old time items for the old west you'll get to see are contemporary leatherwear, Indian dresses and handmade moccasins. If you're looking for the perfect gift for your home, Wyoming Quilts has beautiful displays of needle art as well as special orders for quilts and home items. Cartwheel hats with feathers are on display in many areas at the Wild Horse Gulch.
As you're browsing up and down the block reminiscing about the old west in Cheyenne, you'll listen to the music coming from bars. On the other hand, you may just want to sit down on the wooden benches and smell the aromas from the chuck wagon cooks competing for the cook-off, which is on Saturday. You won't want to miss this, either.
