The Denver Performing Arts Complex in Denver Colorado is a place where live theater is showcased. It was founded in 1972 and has grown to be a national training school for actors and an award-winning production facility. It also has a research facility and a voice clinic. The Complex has is home to The Denver Center Theater Company (DCTC), which is the region's largest professional theater company. In 1998 the DCTC received a Tony Award for Outstanding Regional Theater. In 2003, on its 25th anniversary, the company had completed 77 world premiers and a total of 266 productions.
The Denver Center Attractions (DCA) is located in the Complex. It presents Broadway touring shows and cabaret theater, and produced Denver's longest-running musical I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change. This musical ran for more than four years. The DCA is the reason most people visit the Denver Performing Arts Complex. There's also the Denver Center's Education Department that began in October 1984. It also has an Academy (added in 1991), which is a community school for children and adults. A full-service video and production studio is also in the Denver Performing Arts Complex. The production studio is called Denver Center Media (DCM).
The Complex is home to the National Center for Voice and Speech (NCVS). The NCVS is the only voice facility in the world that is part of a performing arts organization. It was founded in 1983 as a way to study the voice and speech patterns of performers. In 2003 it joined with the University of Colorado Hospital to help all people with vocal disorders.
