The Butterfly Pavilion and Insect Center near Denver, Colorado in Westminster, is an ideal location to visit for those that want to learn more about insects of all types. The location is home to some of the most amazing creatures, as well as educational tools and resources, and even fun exhibits and gift shops to explore. Those that visit will learn more than they think!
In the Butterfly Pavilion, visitors will be able to explore a number of hands on displays about various animals including invertebrates. You will learn about the science behind these animals as well as the conservations efforts that are necessary to help them to survive. The entire location is geared towards children and families, which allows everyone to really learn something unique. There are over 1200 free flying butterflies throughout the Butterfly Pavilion, many of which have come from different areas of the world.
The location was founded in 1995 as an effort to provide a stand alone insect zoo and it quickly became the first of its kind. It is a non profit organization. It is on an eleven acre area that was provided to the organization by the City of Westminster.
Animals located at the Butterfly Pavilion include various species of butterfly, arthropods, sea animals and vertebrates. Exhibits in the location include Tropical Conservatory, the Crawl A See Em exhibit, the Water's Edge exhibit, the Nature Trail, Outdoor Gardens and Shrunk.
Groups can make special arrangements and self guided as well as guided tours are available throughout the location.
