Playa Sol in Cozumel, Mexico
Playa Sol in Cozumel, QR aka Playa Mia is one of the western beaches of the area with swimming that is quite safe in comparison to the beaches on the windward, east side that has dangerous undertows. Because of the safe swimming, Playa Sol is the most popular beach on Cozumel. There is an admission charge per person to get you onto the beach and covers the basics like the use of the facilities as well as any non-motorized toys for the water like hobbie cat sailboats and kayaks.
At Playa Sol, you can also purchase other packages which cover the entrance fee, bar drinks, food buffet, snorkeling equipment, the zoo, use of the hammocks and all of the games. Basically, if you enjoy mingling with others, this party beach is the one for you. If you want to jet ski or go scuba diving, the equipment is an extra charge and not included in your entrance fee package into Playa Sol.
There are three different restaurants you can enjoy here as well as various shopping areas, a children's play area, volleyball, indoor and outdoor showers, lounge chairs, water skiing, parasailing and more. The Playa Sol is a sandy beach which means there is little coral to host enough marine life to have a satisfying snorkeling expedition but there are simulated Mayan ruins to promote snorkeling exploration.
If you want sun and solitude, then Playa Sol is not the beach for you. However, if you are in the mood for some beach activities and some people watching, then head on over and choose the entrance package of your choice. What you will find that you may not find elsewhere are some great shopping venues which feature local artisans and their wares. You will find some unique souvenirs and gifts at Playa Sol.
