Begun in 1902, the Rockefeller Park Greenhouse offers visitors a chance to get in touch with nature at its splendid indoor gardens of native and exotic plants. The main showroom features seasonal flower displays from poinsettias to tulips, while the cactus garden transports guests to the southwestern desert. Tropical gardens are planted with fruit trees, palms, and banana plants, as well as spectacular orchids and bromeliads, while a fern grotto and water garden offer a soothing, tranquil atmosphere.
A highlight is the sensory Talking Garden, which features recorded descriptions of its plants and encourages visitors to stop and smell the roses. The park also features several outdoor gardens, where visitors can follow a winding path through the perennials in the Peace Garden, or enjoy a moment of serenity in the formal Japanese Garden.
