Old Arcade, Cleveland, OH
Modeled after the Galleria Vittorio Emanuelle II in Milan, Italy, Old Arcade was built in 1890 as one of America's first indoor shopping malls, and features stunning architecture that includes a vast glass skylight spanning over three hundred feet. The complex consists of two nine-story buildings joined by the five-story glass arcade, which is ringed by four levels of balconies and features massive columns rising to the skylight. Though the two buildings are now occupied by the Hyatt Regency, the Old Arcade is still open to the public and offers unique shops, services, cafes, and restaurants.
