Nature lovers will not want to miss a day in the great outdoors at the Holden Arboretum, a diverse park that offers every kind of natural setting. Visitors can strike out on their own, or take one of the many seasonal guided tours, including the Wildflower Habitats tour, which winds its way through prairies, bogs, woodlands, and rock gardens, and the Showy Collections tour, which features lilacs, viburnums, rhododendrons, and crabapples.
The Lantern Court House, a 1930s country estate, is also located on the property and is open for viewing. Those looking for more physical exercise will enjoy the twelve hiking trails the Arboretum has to offer, from the easy Pierson Creek Valley Trail that winds through fields of wildflowers and forests, to the rugged Old Valley Trail, which offers a secluded hike past the terraced hillsides. The Arboretum also offers a wide variety of family activities and classes on everything from nature drawing to bugs.
