Established in 1913, the prestigious Cleveland Museum of Art is well known for its collections of Pre-Columbian art, medieval European Art, and Asian and Indian art, and is the only major museum in the country that offers free admission. Highlights of the Museum include the popular medieval armor court, an impressive collection of French Impressionist paintings, and a large exhibit of bronze and marble sculpture by Auguste Rodin, including a cast of The Thinker.
The Museum hosts numerous temporary exhibits each year that feature everything from Picasso to arts and crafts. Visitors can also take advantage of the dozens of activities provided by the Museum, including arts events, art classes for adults and children, book clubs, lectures, and a film series. The annual Chalk Festival features chalk artists and live music in the courtyard, where visitors can try their hand at an original creation.
