Any fan of the popular 1983 holiday movie A Christmas Story, which was set in the 1940s and featured young Ralphie and his dream of getting an air rifle for Christmas, will get a kick out of seeing the A Christmas Story House. Guests can tour the house, which has been restored to its original movie splendor, complete with the famous leg lamp in the window, and visit the museum across the street, which features props, costumes, memorabilia, and behind-the-scenes photos from the film, and a gift shop.
To get the whole experience, visitors can stop by the C&Y Chinese Restaurant where Ralphie and his family had their Christmas dinner, or browse Higbee's Department Store, now Dillard's, where Ralphie first saw the coveted air rifle. The house now hosts an annual convention which features actors from the film, a Chinese turkey dinner, tours of the house, a back-yard BB gun range, a movie screening, a Ralphie look-a-like contest, and fireworks.
