Founded in 1831 as the first Catholic institution of higher learning for men in the Northwest Territory, Xavier University is now a coeducational institution focusing on a liberal arts curriculum in the Catholic, Jesuit tradition. Over seventy undergraduate and graduate programs are offered in the College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Social Sciences, Health, and Education, while the Williams College of Business offers one of the best part-time MBA programs in the country.
Many community outreach programs round out Xavier's mission, including its pioneering university-based Montessori education program. Visitors can take in one of the many Musketeers Atlantic 10 Conference sports events at the Cintas Center or Athletic Mall venues, or enjoy a service at the lovely Bellarmine Chapel on campus.
