The John Hauck House Museum in Cincinnati, Ohio is located on Dayton Street, in the heart of the city. It is an educational institution that was established to help educate individuals on the life and customs from the late 19th century. Its focus is on the surrounding area of Cincinnati, including the urban lifestyles here. To accomplish this goal, the museum uses a wide selection of artifacts that are preserved as well as interpretational displays. The focus is on the Hauck House.
The Hauck House is located on what was known as Millionaire's Row, a street of various prominent homes from important and wealthy individuals from this time period. The Hauck House is an Italian inspired home and is located in the original location as it stood. The home has an facade that is amazingly detailed, made of carved stone. The rooms are large and open and each offers an intricately painted ceiling. The floors within are parquet wood, each offering elaborate patterns. Many of the rooms feature marble mantels as well as a large amount of detailed woodwork.
John Hauck himself was an immigrant from Germany that made his fortune as one of the largest brewers to come out of Cincinnati. In addition, the House features a wide range of furnishings, antique toys and various other types of memorabilia from this time period, each preserved and able to be viewed by the public.
