Families are in for a real treat at Duke Energy Children's Museum, which features play areas for every age level. The tiniest visitors can crawl about the Infant Garden, a soft play area full of plush toys, while the Toddler Farmyard allows kids to fish from a rowboat and create puppet shows at the Story Tree. At Kid's Town, children can play pretend at the kid-sized grocery store, veterinary clinic, diner, and post-office, where they can examine the x-ray of a cat, serve food at the diner, or go grocery shopping.
Older kids will enjoy the interactive exhibits in the Energy Zone, which center around the simple machines and energy forces that push balls into a large bucket, which then rain down on the participants. And both children and adults will enjoy The Woods, an adventure-based three-story wilderness where visitors can balance on rope bridges, scramble up a climbing wall, participate in a treasure hunt, and play in the tree house, which overlooks a real waterfall and a pond full of live creatures.
