If you are an ardent fan of the Cincinnati Reds or simply an aficionado of the game, then the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame is a must visit for you. Located at Main Street in Cincinnati, the Hall of Fame is a veritable treasure trove with a host of game-related trivia, one of a kind exhibits and even an outstanding souvenir shop to stock up on some great fan memorabilia.
The most noteworthy of all the exhibits the gallery houses is the collection which is dedicated to Pete Rose, one of the most legendary players the game has ever witnessed. The gallery displays an extensive selection of artifacts and photographs which detail the meteoric rise from a humble Wet Side player to a baseball legend. You will even find Pete's uniform, the 4192 bat and an exhaustive display of the various trophies Pete garnered in his memorable career. You can even watch a short film about his life in the Hall of Fame Theater.
The Gallery also contains a reproduction of the façade from Palace of the Fans. You can even find a collection which is of life-sized statues of Harry and George Wright who are remembered as the most significant members of the 1869 Red Stockings who were the first professional baseball team.
Your tour around the museum will be accompanied by the dramatic radio call of announcer Al Michaels as the Red play-by-play announcements are broadcast. You will also find several other similarly themed collections which are devoted to other significant teams from the period between 1882 and 1999. The Hall of Fame contains several plaques which are displayed on freestanding towers, each of which has a story to tell. You can also view a wall-sized panoramic photograph of Opening day in 1912, which is remembered as the day the first game was hosted at the Redland / Crosley Field. You can even avail of the touch screen kiosks which allow to you browse through the glorious history of the Reds team.
The Reds Hall of Fame Shop houses an impressive array of Red-themed memorabilia which include a Crosley Field Scoreboard Clock and the limited edition Reds Hall of Fame Induction mini bat. The Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame is open from 10 am to 5 pm, Monday through Thursday and noon to 5 pm on Sundays on non game days. Game days allow visitors into the Hall of Fame between 10 am and 7 pm, on Saturdays and Sundays. A visit to the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame will cost you about $8 with special discounts for children and seniors.
