The Arts Consortium of Cincinnati on Linn Street is dedicated to preserving the rich cultural heritage of the African American Community in the region.
This organization was established in 1972 and has come to be known as one of the premier institutions of African American art and culture in the country. Here, you will find numerous exhibits which reflect the steeped-in-tradition culture of the community. Visitors can numerous gallery exhibitions by acclaimed artists at the consortium and even attend workshops on the visual and performing arts. You can even attend productions by several performers of national and international acclaims.
The Arts Consortium also aims to celebrate the glorious legacy of its people and educate visitors about the history of this community in America. In keeping with this theme, the gallery also houses a permanent exhibit which depicts the history of the Black Community in Cincinnati.
The Consortium is also a much sought after platform for up and coming artists to showcase their skills. The scope of arts, which are promoted by the organization, ranges from the visual to the literary and performing arts. The collection of painted images by Ibou Ndoye titled 'Frail Shadows for the Sahel' has drawn the Consortium much acclaim.
You can even participate in the various activities the Arts Consortium hosts all through the year. Of particular significance is the annual breakfast to celebrate the Martin Luther King Jr. Day which is a traditional start to a day full of festivities in Cincinnati.
