No visit to the Windy City is complete without tasting some deep-dish Chicago pizza, and the perfect place to try this Chi-Town classic is at Gino's East of Chicago.
Here you will find amazing specialty pizzas, as well as the classic staples such as cheese and sausage. The joint was started in 1966 by a couple of cab drivers who found a business partner and began their pizza business on Superior Street. The place has now moved into Planet Hollywood's old space at River North, so it does have a bit more glitz. However, many of the original parlor's features were kept the same, such as the hardwood booths and the old-fashioned service. No small suprise that it made the City'sBest 2006 list.
What makes Gino's great is not only their famous deep-dish pies, but what you can do while you wait. Each diner receives a package of crayons so that he or she can write, scribble, autograph, or graffiti on anything that doesn't move. This creative outlet is a nice distraction while waiting for a table or your food.
