The annual Zoo Year's Eve celebration at the Brookfield Zoo in the Chicago suburbs gives families an early-evening option to ring in the New Year that won't keep the kids out until midnight. This New Year's Eve celebration is hosted by Radio Disney, whose DJs crank out the kids favorite tunes from late afternoon through around 9 PM. Kids and their families can visit the zoo's many animal exhibits, enter prize raffles, and play various fun zoo-themed games.
The zoo's Holiday Magic light show is in full effect on New Year's Eve as well - the show features one million Christmas lights that are displayed all over the zoo. To make the evening a true New Year's celebration, the zoo holds a countdown at 8 PM - hey, it is New Year's somewhere at that time! The event winds down at 9 PM, so parents can take sleepy kids home and be in front of the TV in time to see the ball drop in Times Square.
