Bulb Bazaar at Chicago Botanic Garden, Glencoe, IL

If you're looking for the perfect way to kick off the fall garden-planting season, look no further than the annual Bulb Bazaar event, held every October at the Chicago Botanic Garden in Glencoe, Illinois. At this free event, visitors can purchase over 200 types of bulbs to plant in their garden for fall. Bulbs for various varieties of tulips, daffodils and alliums are available every year along with more exotic and specialized species. Many of the bulbs for sale come in to Chicago that week directly from Holland so they will be in prime condition for fall planting.

Also during the event, experienced gardeners and horticulturists hold workshops on bulb planting, selection, and care. The Bulb Bazaar catalog is provided at the event and is a veritable encyclopedia of bulb knowledge - not only will it help with your Bazaar shopping, but it will serve as a useful reference for future garden and wish list planning as well. This event is free and open to the public, and is usually held in early October on a Saturday and Sunday. There is usually a members-only preview on the Friday before the event, which invites Botanic Garden members to get first pick of the bulbs before the event opens to the public.
