Chicago
Sears Tower
If there's one stop that you absolutely have to make while in the Chicago area, it's the Sears Tower, and this tour takes you there.
Welcome to the Windy City. Built on the shore of Lake Michigan, Chicago is a place of culture, history, and escape. Great museums, fountains, and stores are scattered throughout the city giving its residents and visitors alike numerous ways to escape the mundane tasks and savor the pleasure of life. There is no way to discover the personality of this great city without immersing yourself in history and culture. Every building seems to be a landmark (The Wrigley Building, Water Tower Place...), every locale has a story (Did the Billy Goat Tavern really curse the Chicago Cubs?). Visitors may find it helpful and informative to take a guided tour. Inside Chicago tours lead guests through Hyde Park, The Loop, along Michigan Ave.; they'll be sure to point out sculptures and artwork by Picasso, Calder, Miro and Chagel in the public plazas. (The Sears Tower Skydeck and Inside Chicago tour is another option.) The Ship and Shore tour takes visitors through the city in climate-controlled motorcoaches before touring the Lake Shore on The Spirit of Chicago (and they even include lunch!) Discover the history of some of Chicago's most famous residents. Frank Lloyd Wright, "America's Architect," spent several years perfecting his skill in this treasured city. Basketball legend Micheal Jordan led the Chicago Bulls on a long winning streak. Hemingway lived in the city at the start of his writing career. And another great thing about Chicago? They even love to claim the bad guys--Al Capone and his crew are legends of a more sinister type. A fun-filled introduction to the flapper and gangster crowd can be experienced at The Roaring 20's Dinner. Dinner includes a musical comedy show and an after dinner visit to one of Chicago's legendary blues or jazz clubs. Lake Michigan's vast shore is lined with more than 30 sandy beaches and miles of fabulous skyline views. Don't miss an outing on Chicago Spirit Cruises --not only will you have an unparrelled view of the shoreline, you'll also be treated to a Broadway-styled musical review during dinner (or lunch), then move to the upper deck for dancing and skyline-gazing. The cultural side to Chicago is unlike any other. The Goodman and the Steppenwolf are just two of the leading theatres to bring entertainment to the Windy City. And laughter rolls out the doors at Second City, "homestage" to legend John Belushi (among others). If talk shows are preferred, Chicago is the home to Oprah and Jerry Springer. It is also home to many professional sports teams including the Bulls, the Cubs, the White Sox, the Bears, and the Blackhawks. Don't miss the action. Amazing shopping and world-class restaurants add even more appeal to this city with a taste and flavor that is one of a kind. Changing with each season, and yet remaining comfortably the same, Chicago offers something for each visitor and assures each one that he or she will take home a little piece of it in their heart and mind. |
