In Chattanooga, outdoor recreation and sightseeing around the beautiful landscape are popular activities. If you would like to experience some of the best that Chattanooga has to offer, the activities below will ensure that you do just that.

Lookout Mountain Attractions

At Lookout Mountain, you'll be able to explore three different attractions plus Lookout Mountain itself, which features a stunning view of seven states from the top. Once you have arrived to Lookout Mountain, you'll have the chance to enjoy Incline Railway, Rock City, and Ruby Falls.

  • Incline Railway  — This railway, with an incredible steep grade of nearly 73%, is the steepest passenger railway in the world. Lookout Mountain has magnificent sights, but the sights on Incline Railway are quite sensational as well as you climb up the mountain. Once you get up to Lookout Mountain, you'll have the chance to go to the highest points of the mountain and visit a gift shop, snack bar, candy shop, and more.
  • Rock City — At Rock City, you'll be able to observe 200 million year-old rock formations. You'll also get an amazing view of the Appalachian Mountains from here. Rock City has a 4,100-foot train that leads its passengers through caves, displays of floral beauty, and of course, magnificent rock formations. This attraction also features the 200-foot Swing-a-Long Bridge, a bridge stretched across the sky.
  • Ruby Falls — In the Ruby Falls cave, you'll see the145 feet tall Ruby Falls. This waterfall is the highest underground waterfall in the country. As you explore the cave, you'll also learn some history about the Subterranean Forest and its millions of years of formation.

Riverboat Cruises

Whatever kind of Riverboat Cruise you're looking for, Chattanooga's Southern Belle Riverboat offers different kinds of cruises at different times of the day, so you'll be able to plan the rest of your Chattanooga excursion accordingly.

Lookout Mountain Attractions
All of the attractions were great. We did learn that you don't do both Ruby Falls and Rock City in the same day if you are old. It was just beautiful.

The attraction was great, but the guide to Ruby Falls complained the entire tour about how tired she was and how much sleep she had not had. Other than that, everything was superb.
