Uptown Charlotte, NC When it comes to living in and visiting Uptown Charlotte, North Carolina, there are many things that can be seen or visited; in fact, for people of all ages and race.<
For those that do not know exactly what Uptown Charlotte is, it is the central business district of Charlotte, NC. In fact, it is the home of mostly all of the city's most known institutions and also the historic core, the geographic center of the city (having Trade and Tryon Streets the center point).
When people think of Uptown Charlotte, they mostly think about the four Wards; which were originally the political divisions of the city. The First ward is a heavy residential area that is beginning to branch off some businesses. The Second ward is where the government center is. The Third ward is where lots of industries were (mostly blue-collar industries). The Fourth ward is the best looking part of Uptown; as it has Queen Anne architecture throughout. In fact, it is also known to be the wealthy part of town.
Even though Uptown Charlotte sounds like it is mostly for those that work, there are many things to do other than work! In fact, Uptown Charlotte is a great place to go for lunch; as it has lots of great vendors on the street as well as great restaurants where you can get almost any type of food imaginable. What's even great is that Uptown Charlotte is rather clean and has beautiful landscaping; which is very enjoyable!
No matter where you go in the Uptown area, almost every place can be reached by foot. In fact, some of the best places to go are the Discovery Place (the nation's best children's museum), The Mint Museum of Craft and Design, ImaginOn (a library/theatre for families), and parks such as the Third Ward Park, Fourth Ward Park and Marshall Park and various nightclubs such as the Breakfast Club, Crush and Coyote Ugly. Some of the annual events that happen in Uptown Charlotte are the St. Patrick's Day Parade, the Taste of Charlotte, and the Fourth of July Fireworks Display.
