Rural Hill Farm is the historic homestead of Major John Davidson, a descendant of Scottish immigrants who served as an Army officer during the American Revolution. Six generations of the Davidson family lived at Rural Hill for more than 230 years, and visitors can still see eleven historic structures on the site, including the main house, two one-room schoolhouses, and the Rural Hill Burying Ground. The 265-acre property offers guests magnificent rural panoramas, encounters with a variety of farm animals, and plenty of beautiful nature trails that meander through the hills, fields, and creeks of the farm.
Not to be missed are the Loch Norman Highland Games, a several-day event that features athletes competing in traditional Scottish games, as well as entertainment including bagpipes, Celtic bands, Scottish dance, and typical Scottish cuisine. Other events include the annual Sheep Dog Trials, the Scottish Hogmanay celebration of history and folklore, and the unique Amazing Maze, a seven-acre maze of corn.
