If you're in Charlotte, North Carolina, and you enjoy quiet, traditional-style neighborhoods with a unique, quirky charm, visiting the historic Plaza-Midwood is simply a must. Established in 1910 as a streetcar suburb of Charlotte, the neighborhood thrived during the Great Depression, giving jobs and hope to those who needed it most.
However, the neighborhood began a steady decline in the 1950s.
In 1975, the Plaza Midwood Neighborhood Association was established, so that the classic neighborhood could be protected and preserved. Within the last twenty years, nearly all of the homes and buildings in Plaza Midwood have been restored from their dilapidated state into beautiful, classic-looking dwellings with many unique restaurants, stores, and homes.
