Often referred to as simply "The Southend", the Historic South End is just south of Charlotte, North Carolina, and it is a beautiful historic district that is thriving with life and power. The Southend began in the 1850's with the railroad. A line connecting the Queen City to Columbia and Charleston popped up, and along with it many quaint towns centered on it. One of those towns was the Southend, which was a thriving manufacturing community.
During it's decline in the 70's and 80's, it became much like the other neighborhoods — but in the early 1990's, many of the buildings were restored, and it returned to its beautiful historic roots, becoming a thriving district with shops, restaurants, and homes.
