Chimney Rock Park in Lake Lure, NC

Hikers and naturalists should get themselves over to Chimney Rock Park for some of the best hiking trails and breathtaking mountain views in the region. The Park offers trails for all ages, including the Skyline-Cliff Trail Loop and the Four Seasons Trail, which lead hikers across natural cliff ledges from the panoramic view at Opera Box to the stunning spectacles of the top of the Chimney and the Exclamation Point, the highest point in the Park. Though rare plants, native wildlife, and unusual rock formations greet visitors at every turn, the highlight of the Park is the dramatic 404-foot Hickory Nut Waterfall, whose cooling mists offer hikers a refreshing break. Visitors can pick up a Hiker's Lunch at the Sky Lounge Deli, or lounge on the deck at Old Rock Café for a peaceful meal overlooking the Rocky Broad River.
