One of the most delightful destinations for families and nature lovers, the Charlotte Nature Museum offers a slew of fun interactive exhibits and activities. A highlight of the Museum, the sun-filled Butterfly Pavilion is a fantasy of color and motion as hundreds of butterflies flutter freely amongst the flowering plants, and offer visitors the unique opportunity to watch them gather nectar or emerge from their cocoons.
The Creature Cavern introduces guests to Peetie the opossum and Nelly the barred owl, as well as snakes, skunks, and native North Carolinian animals, while Insect Alley features interactive fun where kids can learn about all their favorite creepy crawlies. Younger kids can read, color, and play games in the Children's Activity Center, or splash in the stream and explore underground tunnels in the Big Backyard. A monthly Creature Features program offers crafts, storytelling, puppet shows, and goodies for the kids.
