The College of Charleston, founded in 1770 and chartered in 1775, is the oldest higher education institution in South Carolina, and the thirteenth oldest in the United States.  The College of Charleston offers several academic programs in the undergraduate as well as graduate level ranging from the School of Education to Business and Economics. The college also has a variety of athletic programs including basketball, cross country, swimming & diving and track & field. The College of Charleston Bookstore offers textbooks, medical books, e-books, apparel and gifts, and various supplies for any students' needs.
