Boone Hall Plantation & Gardens in Mt. Pleasant, SC
Experience life as it was in South Carolina in the 1800s with a visit to the Boone Hall Plantation in Mt. Pleasant! The home itself is stocked with antiques and early furniture, and guided tours offer a plethora of information about life on the plantation during the colonial period through the Civil War. Another highlight of the plantation is the slave cabins, one of the only remaining "slave streets" in the country. The cabins served as the homes of the slaves who worked the home and land around Boone Hall.
A sweetgrass artisan will demonstrate basket sewing, much as the slaves who hailed from Africa or were direct descendents of Africans did. Coach tours of the grounds are also available, and visitors should be sure to leave plenty of time to explore the gardens and butterfly pavilion at the plantation!
