The Aiken-Rhett House is one of the most intact townhouse complexes showcasing life in Charleston before the Civil War.
Built in 1818, the house was the home of Governor and Mrs. William Aiken Jr. and remained in their family until 1975. The house has survived virtually unaltered since 1858 and today you can visit the rooms including the first floor, second floor and basement, all full of period furniture, artwork, antiques, and other furnishings.
