Town of Mount Pleasant Memorial Waterfront Park Opening and Dedication
Grab you blanket and the family and get ready for the opening of the
Mount Pleasant Memorial Waterfront Park. Opening July 3, 2009, the
Mount Pleasant Memorial Waterfront Park features the Kruger B. Smith Visitor Center, Sweetgrass Cultural Arts Pavilion, children's
playground, 1250 foot fishing pier and War Memorial.
The park is located at the base of the Arthur M Ravenel Bridge on Harry Hallman Blvd in Mt. Pleasant, SC. There will be various events during the weekend of the opening. The Park Opening festival on Friday, July 3rd from 4 - 11 pm. is a free event with children's activities, face painters, balloon artists, and music. There will be food available for purchase from local Mt. Pleasant restaurants.
At 6:30 that evening, the dedication will take place on the stage near the visitor's center. After the dedication the Charleston Community band will play. If you are a dancer, then head down to the pier and listen to the East Coast Party Band that begins playing at 8 p.m. Free parking is available at the park and at the College of Charleston Athletic Complex. Bring a chair, ride the free shuttle bus from the College of Charleston Athletic Complex, stake out your spot early for this one time event! www.townofmountpleasant.com
