Riverview Hotel Exterior

Everyone knows that Charleston, SC is famous for charm and old world class. We have all visited the famous attractions and seen the amazing museums. But there is another art in Charleston, one that has gone largely unexplored. It is the art of...choosing a hotel! This is a short list of what I believe are the best, and most exciting, hotels in all of Charleston.

Charleston Riverview Hotel

With amazing views of the Ashley River, this hotel is conveniently located only one mile from Charleston's much touted historic district. The modern furnishings of the hotel give it a young and hip vibe, but not overwhelmingly so, while the service continues to be exemplary, as it has been for years. Enjoy the outdoor swimming pool and guest luandry as well as an on-site restaurant and lounge.

Best Western King Charles Inn

If you want to stay in the heart of the Historic District, then book a room at the Best Western King Charles. The hotel is located on Meeting Street, right in the middle of the Historic District. Originally named The Pavilion Hotel, this hotel was a popular meeting spot for many American artists in the 1800s, including the incomparable Edgar Allan Poe. The old world charm and modern amenities offered at this hotel are unparalelled.

Francis Marion Hotel

If you are a history buff, you might know that Sir Francis Marion, also known as the "Swamp Fox" was a guiding force for the Patriots during the Revolutionary War. His guerilla tactics kept the Charleston area relatively safe, even when it was occupied by British soldiers. This thorn in the Redcoat's side is still considered a hometown hero. The hotel that bears his name is tastefully and luxuriously appointed. With comfortable rooms and outstanding amenities, including an on-site restaurant and lounge, you can't go wrong staying at the Francis Marion Hotel.

There you have it, some of the best lodging options in Charleston. Whether you wish to stay smack in the middle of the action or book a room in a more quiet part of town, the above mentioned hotels all features class and style, in addition to amazing service and amenities.

Charleston Riverview Hotel- Charleston, S.C.
The hotel was nice but we had to walk through a lot of construction as they were remodeling.
