Weather and Packing Advice in Cape CodThe Cape Cod area experiences four distinct seasons, with an extended and vibrantly colored fall season. The Cape is about 20 degrees cooler in the summer and 20 degrees warmer in the winter than the mainland is, making it the perfect place for a mild weather getaway if you live in areas with extreme climates. Seasonal Weather Spring - March sees daily highs in the 40s with lows in the low 30s. April and May average daily highs in the upper 50s and 60s, with lows dropping to the high 30s and low 50s. Though this time of year is warmer than the winter months, you will still want to bring a light jacket and warmer clothes. Summer - Summer sees warm weather with daily high temperatures averaging in the high 70s. Average daily lows are in the upper 50s and lower 60s. Ocean breezes make the weather comfortable and refreshing. Bring short sleeves and sunscreen to help with the summertime sun. Fall - The fall months begin to cool off again. In September the daily highs average in the low 70s with lows dropping to the mid 50s. October averages daily highs in the 60s with lows dropping into the mid 40s. November is even cooler with daily highs averaging in the lower 50s and lows dropping into the upper 30s. You'll definitely want to be packing sweaters and warm clothing during this season. Winter - The winter months are cold, but not harsh. If you love snow, this is the time of year to travel. The winter months see highs in the upper 30s with lows dropping down into the lower 20s. You'll want to bring gloves, hats and warm jackets at this time of year. Packing Advice Cape Cod's climate is marked by long colorful falls, green and refreshing springs, comfortably warm summers and mildly cold winters. Good preparation and common sense is a good rule of thumb to follow. Put toiletries and loose items in waterproof containers, in a kit or separate bag. Planning Your Packing: Anything you forget to pack, you'll have to buy. It is wise to make a list of everything you need to take with you and refer to it as you pack. This will ensure that nothing will be overlooked (and anything that is, is a good excuse to go shopping). Packing For Comfort: Products that will help you withstand the humidity, as well as, sunscreen, are a must. Natural fibers like cotton or silk and light colors are good choices for hot days. To avoid aching feet, pack a pair of familiar walking shoes. Always: Check the forecast before leaving to ensure that you are properly prepared for any weather changes.
