If you aren't into the larger churches in the area but would appreciate
the opportunity to participate in a religious ceremony while on
vacation you might find that La Sagrada Familia, a small Catholic
Church in the center of Cancun, is a great place to enjoy your Sunday
worship. For vacationing Catholics this is a great bonus as well as
others who enjoy the ability to participate in a religious ceremony of
some sort when far away from home churches.
Mass at this church begins a little earlier than you may be accustomed
to (the first starts at 7 am) with the preference being for worship as
the first activity of the day, which is followed by many parishioners
with a visit to the local market or various dining establishments. Mass
lasts for about 30-40 minutes and the dress for these particular
worship services may be a little more conservative than you are
accustomed to. It is considered inappropriate to wear short skirts,
shorts, tank tops, spaghetti straps, or sleeveless tops.
The most important thing about a trip to La Sagrada Familia is the fact
that you are able to enjoy that personal spiritual time in a place that
isn't as crowded as some of the larger cathedrals in the area that are
often overrun with tourists and local citizens alike. If you are
looking for a real opportunity to have spiritual time with God, then
mass at La Sagrada Familia just might be the perfect opportunity for
many visitors to Cancun.
