La Destileria in Cancun, QR is a place that you must dine in at least once or your vacation wouldn't be complete. With very affordable prices, you are getting service and food above and beyond what you pay. The wait staff is very solicitous and will place the dining napkins in your lap for you and they are at the ready with menu suggestions based on your tastes.
Located right next to the Tequila Museum or Museo del Tequila, the restaurant is decorated as an old hacienda, Mexican style. It's open, festive and fun with the mariachis performing in the background during your dining experience. La Destileria offers quite tasty menu items which are reminiscent of the Guadalajara area and has a Caribbean flair as well.
Some of the food items you might expect include tasty poblano peppers stuffed with your choice of tuna, meat or cheese, a special Mexican stew, a variety of fish and seafood items and an unusual dish called Chiquihuite Maximiliano which are pastries that have cheese, chicken and a particular mushroom that grown on ear of corn that can only be find in the region. Of course, your dining experience would not be authentic without washing your meal down with one of La Destileria's 150 varieties of tequila.
If you have room after your meal, be sure to sample some of their desserts. However, if you simply cannot fit any more food in, take a tour of the Tequila Museum next door and learn about the history of tequila in the region. La Destileria is open from 1:00 p.m. for lunch time to 1:00 a.m. in case you want a late dinner.
