Located on Range Road in Calgary, the Calaway Park holds the distinction of being the largest family outdoor park in all of Western Canada.
Spread over 160 acres of wholesome fun for visitors of all ages, the park features over 30 exciting rides. You can literally binge on that adrenaline rush at the Adrenaline Test Zone, where the three arms spin you around at dizzying speeds. Or if you like, sit back and watch the world float by atop the giant air balloons, while your little ones can pilot pint-sized aircrafts at the Biplanes Stunt Schools. And for some good, old-fashioned fun, hop aboard the Carousel which looks like it's been transported from the days of yore, brightly colored horses, benches included.
And for those sweltering summer days, embark on a log-boat ride which traverses through two water slides and an exciting 10.5 meter vertical drop. You can even take your family along on a leisurely U drive aboard an antique vehicle. The Calaway Park also features an array of stage shows throughout the year, and if you do have budding theatrical aspirations, you can pop in for a quick audition during your visit to the park itself. You can even purchase meal vouchers for those quick nibbles between rides, and choose from a burger, a hotdog and a pizza combination.
The Calaway Park also hosts a number of educational events like the Physics Day, where young minds are taught the basics underlying the science by way of the mechanics behind the park rides. Students can also refer to a workbook which the park has designed for this course and even take photocopies home with them.
You can visit the Calaway Park on weekends in the spring and fall months and from 10 am to 7 pm in summer. Admission to the Calaway Park is priced at about $27 per person with special rates for families of four as well as group discounts.
