Bridges of Hope Refugee festival
The Canadian Red Cross is presenting this dazzling festival celebrating United Nations Refugee Day. The festival program is featuring beautiful and diverse cultures of our own refugee communities in Calgary. Come to see stunning welcoming ceremony by the local native community, hear intoxicating African drumming and Latino rhythms and taste some extraordinary multicultural food. You will be entertained, enlightened and educated by our best performers and speakers. For the first time in Calgary the whole festival is dedicated to the refugee experience. As we encounter less peace globally, we are becoming more aware of millions of people who had to leave their homeland and become refugees. These people come from all walks of life, and bring their stories, culture and knowledge to our multicultural community. The festival Bridges of Hope aims to welcome all refugees to Calgary, present refugee artists and communities and raise awareness of unique issues facing this population.
