Calgary,Alberta WeatherIf there's one thing visitors should know about Calgary's weather, it's that being prepared can be a lifesaver. Calgary sees all four seasons, with significant temperature variations, along with a little unpredictability. Summers are fairly cool, and winters can be downright cold. Midsummer to early fall is generally recommended as the best time to visit the region. Summer in Calgary If you visit during the summer, you'll typically find sunshine with warm, dry days and cooler evenings. Daily temperatures average between 47 degrees and 72 degrees and average monthly precipitation is around 2.6 inches. Pack lightweight attire and bring along a sweater or light jacket for later in the day. Spring and Fall in Calgary Spring and fall weather can be especially fickle. During spring, daily temperatures are between 27 degrees and 50 degrees, and monthly precipitation averages 1.2 inches. Fall temperatures are typically between 28 degrees and 52 degrees, and the region usually sees about 1 inch of precipitation. You'll want to layer your clothing and bring along a jacket. Winter in Calgary During the winter, expect temperatures ranging from 7 degrees to 28 degrees and monthly precipitation levels around 0.5 inches. There's often quite a bit of snow in the mountains, but Calgary typically sees only a modest amount of snow. Wear a warm coat, hat, gloves, scarf and boots. Adding to this seasonal mix, Calgary also has an unusual weather trend called a Chinook wind, which can increase the temperature by more than 20 degrees in one day. And if venturing into the mountains any time of year, dress for possible rain and cold. |
