Wentworth Porter Gallery in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico
Wentworth Porter Gallery in Cabo San Lucas, BS is so named after the artist who opened the gallery — Dennis Wentworth Porter. He is a 1974 art graduate who has been making his living for years as an artist. In 1994, he ventured into Cabo San Lucas intending to paint for a while and then leave, but instead stuck around for several years before opening the gallery.
The downtown location on Alvaro Obregon cannot be beat and is in fact a choice destination for many art collectors who happen to be in the Cabo area. Wentworth Porter Gallery is housed in a turn of the century building which gives it an Old World ambience and how the gallery is set up it seems almost like a museum. The artist's impressionistic work is quite powerful and does not need a bunch of folderol around them. Therefore, when you visit the Gallery in Cozumel, you will notice that there is usually no more than ten to twelve of his works displayed on the walls at any given time.
There is always soft jazz filtering out of the speakers and the lighting enhances his brilliant pastel paintings as well as his large oil paint prints. Of course, while Wentworth Porter Gallery houses mainly his works of art, there are some sculpture pieces from other artists that complement the space. If you are in the market for a beautifully represented scene from Cabo San Lucas or even elsewhere in the world through the eyes of an Impressionist, then a piece of artwork from the artist should be added to your collection.
