Playa del Amante in Cabo San Lucas, BS is a beautiful beach is near the Sea of Cortez on the side nearest to Lands End. This is one beach that tourists love to come to view so they can take pictures. Its beauty is so apparent and widespread that it is used in many travel advertisements for Los Cabos and Cabo San Lucas. It has also been, through the years, commonly called Lover's Beach.
It's a very small beach and it hard to get to on foot, but many tourists come to this pretty beach because it's so small and they won't have to deal with large crowds. Most of the people that don't want to walk to Playa del Amante will take a water taxi, which gets them there in no time. For those that are looking for adventure and physical activity, they will climb the rocks from Playa Solmar. This method of transportation to the beach is not recommended, however, because of the danger on the rocks.
Whereas most beaches are frequented for swimming on tanning, this beach is more popular as an attraction for sightseeing purposes. There's water on both sides of the beach, with the actual beach being surrounded by large towering rocks. Legend says that years ago many pirates inhabited this stretch of beach and rocks. In fact, today there are still pirates' names on the rocks. They claim that pirates would travel back and forth through this area in their small boats. Today, tourists and locals can still travel by boat across the bay to El Medano beach. Many travel here for the water sports available, such as kayaking and tubing. If you plan to travel out here, it is advised to make return travel arrangements, as it is very difficult to get boats to come out there after 5 p.m.
On the bay side of the beach, children will love watching the fish of many colors swimming back and forth. There is no swimming or water sports allowed near the Pacific side of the beach due to the extreme danger involved. However, this area does make some gorgeous photographs with the huge towering rocks and splashing waves.
